We tell you everything about a potential season 2 of L’Ombre de Fatma (plot, cast, release date …)
Fatma is a Turkish thriller that follows the journey of a desperate woman from victim to avenging slayer. Exploring the character of the protagonist, which makes an unlikely and interesting assassin, resulted in the series being deemed “groundbreaking” by critics, with Burcu Biricik’s main performance receiving high praise. With the release of the first season in April 2021, fans of this very “binge-able” series are already asking for more. So we decided to dig around to find out when we could see a new season. Here’s everything we know about Fatma Season 2.
Possibility of a release date for Season 2 of Fatma?
Season 1 of Fatma has been available in full since April 27, 2021, on Netflix. The relatively short season consists of 6 episodes of approximately 40 minutes each.
As for another season, here’s everything we know. As of yet, no official announcement has been made regarding the renewal of the series for another season. Additionally, the first season manages to masterfully wrap most of the major points of complex storytelling in its six-episode series. While not originally announced as a miniseries, the ending indicates that Fatma Season 2 is unlikely to be made.
However, if the series receives a good reception from viewers and creator Ozgur Onurme manages to craft a story compelling enough to continue the series, the streaming giant could renew the series for a second season. After all, the final episode leaves the fate of the protagonist in suspense, which can be used to further explore the series’ narrative beyond the first season. If the series returns for a new season, the airing is expected to take place between late 2022 and early 2023.
Fatma Season 2 casting: who will play in the next episodes?
The first season of Fatma stars Burcu Biricik as the show’s heroine, a desperate woman living in Istanbul. Ferit Kaya stars as Zafer, her late husband, and Mustafa Konak, her son Oguz who has autism (two rarely seen but important characters). Zafer’s other criminal associates who torment Fatma are Yusuf (Cagdas Onur Ozturk),Bayram (Mehmet Yilmaz Ak),Ekber (Burhan Öçal) and Sevket (Kubilay Tunçer).
Fatma’s circle of acquaintances is completed by her childhood friend Ismail (Deniz Sen Hamzaoglu) and wife Kadriye (Gulcin Kultur Sahin), sister Mine (Hazal Türesan), police chief (Sehsuvar Aktas), and the author (Ugur Yücel) for whom Fatma works. If the series is renewed for a season 2, the cast can be expected to change significantly as Fatma, in season 1, killed many of Zafer’s criminal associates, leaving only Bayram alive but imprisoned. . So there is a small chance that we will see Mehmet Yilmaz Ak reprise his role to take revenge on Fatma and her sister.
In season 2, we won’t see Gulcin Kultur Sahin and Deniz Sen Hamzaoglu return to the series as their characters are also killed by the protagonist. However, if there’s one cast member we can be sure to see in the following season, it’s Burcu Biricik as the unstoppable Fatma. As the first season is over, we might also see a more in-depth exploration of Fatma’s relationship with her sister Mine, paving the way for Hazal Türesan’s return for season 2.
The potential plot of Fatma season 2
Season 1 sees the eponymous protagonist set off in search of her missing husband while trying to avenge the death of her autistic son, Oguz. Fatma faces an oppressive society and patriarchal figures who torment and use her, against whom she ends up lashing out with brutal and morbid results. The end of the first season resolves all the important plot points, with Fatma confronting her selfish husband and (tragically) accepting the loss of her son. We also see her succeed in getting revenge on the family she holds responsible for Oguz’s death and killing many who wronged her.
If Fatma season 2 does see the light of day, it will most likely focus on the only remaining tormentor, Bayram, who is arrested for a minor crime towards the end of the first season. Fatma also has her husband Zafer arrested, and we might see Bayram and Zafer return for revenge in the following season. The fate of Fatma, which remains unclear after she leaps from a building in the Season 1 finale, along with any incriminating evidence that links her to multiple murders, are also topics that will most likely be explored if Season 2 of Fatma is completed.
