Even if your summer is shaping up to be hectic, there’s no way it can compare to that of John B. To our delight, Netflix has just released the first photos of Outer Banks Season 2, and they made with a promise: the new episodes will air this summer 2021!
Netflix has proven to be very good at teen shows, but it has found a hidden treasure with this one. The series is set in the coastal town of Outer Banks, North Carolina, and follows a group of working-class friends known as Pogues. The leader of this bunch of young people? John B (Chase Stokes). Last season, the Pogues took on the rich kids – also known as the Kooks – as John B. searched for his missing father after a boat trip that went wrong. This investigation led the Pages to discover a mysterious treasure linked to John B’s father.
Oh, and you can be sure there was a love affair along the way. While John B and his pals got dirty in the swamp and stole scuba gear, our hero also fell in love with one of the most popular members of the Kooks, Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline). It’s a classic story of a rich girl and a poor boy meeting, and it worked like clockwork. Have fun trying not to become addicted to this series!
And it looks like this new season is going to get crazier and crazier.
“Season 2 will test our team like never before,” said creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke in a press statement. “We upped the tempo for everything the fans loved about Season 1 – more mystery, more romance, and higher stakes. It’s an action-packed adventure and these photos provide a glimpse into the next chapter for our Pogues. For the time being, all we can suggest is buckle up; it’s going to be a wild ride.”
We want to believe them when we look at the photos unveiled in the Netflix tweet.

This is a very good thing because last season ended on a big cliffhanger. Be careful, spoilers are coming. After a mystery that took John B across the island, he finally learned the truth about his father. Ward Cameron (Charles Esten), Sarah’s father, was just as fascinated with discovering treasure as John B’s father, Big John (Charles Halford). When they finally found him, Ward killed Big John. Ward had the gold from the start and flew it to the Bahamas in a private plane.
John B and Sarah stole a boat and tried to take it to the Bahamas to retrieve the gold that rightly belonged to his father, but they were caught in a tropical storm. Season 1 ended with everyone on the Outer Banks assuming that John B and Sarah were dead. But at the last minute, the couple managed to wave a passing freighter and make it to the Bahamas. That’s it, they’re going for the gold.
We have so many questions for this new season. Is Ward going to be arrested? Will John B. and Sarah find the treasure? What will the Pogues do without John B.? What is this leak? Who are they fleeing? But whatever happens, we’ll be there for the rest of their adventures.
Outer Banks season 2 will be available this summer on Netflix.
