BritBox is expanding its offering with the upcoming release of The Beast Must Die, the first drama shot exclusively for the UK streaming service. The first two episodes are available from this Thursday, May 27, then a new episode every Thursday.
Written by Gaby Chiappe, The Beast Must Die is presented as a modern adaptation of the classic detective novel Let the Beast die! written by Nicholas Blake (pseudonym of the poet Cecil Day-Lewis, father of Daniel Day-Lewis) in 1938 and already adapted for cinema in 1969 by Claude Chabrol.
The Beast Must Die thus centers on a mother (Cush Jumbo) determined to obtain revenge after the death of her 6-year-old son, hit by a car. Detective Strangeways (Billy Howle) must succeed in unraveling this tragedy if justice is to be done.
Consisting of 5 episodes, The Beast Must Die stars Cush Jumbo, Jared Harris, Billy Howle, Geraldine James, Nathaniel Parker, Maeve Dermody, Mia Tomlinson, and Barney Sayburn.
