The Queen of Flow is a Colombian telenovela that originally aired on Caracol Television, before arriving on Netflix. Created by Andres Salgado, who also wrote and produced it, the series was shot in Medellin, Antioquia, and New York.
Directed by Liliana Bocanegra and Rodrigo Lalinde, the series is produced by Ernesto Escamilla, Angelica Guerra and Luis Eduardo Jimenez and is a Sony Pictures Television and Teleset co-production for Caracol. The massive popularity of The Queen of Flow in Colombia, where it became the most-watched series, encouraged Netflix to acquire worldwide rights to it. The series was finally released on the streaming platform on November 9, 2018.
Characters and actors of The Queen of Flow
The story of The Queen of Flow revolves around a shy and naive but extremely talented teenage girl with a passion for urban music, Yeimy Montoya, whose role is beautifully performed by Carolina Ramirez. Yeimy is an ambitious young girl, who dreams of becoming the best reggaeton (Spanish reggae) musician.
Charly Flow, played by Carlos Torres, has no gratitude towards Yeimy, although he owes him his fame. While Yeimy suffers in prison in the United States, for a crime she did not commit, Charly becomes the star of reggaeton. Little does he know that she will come back to take what is hers.
In all this drama, Juancho, the character played by Andres Sandoval, is head over heels in love with Yeimy, which Yeimy and Charlie ignore, as he didn’t dare to confess it to her. He watches Yeimy fall in love with his best friend Charly and can do nothing but keep this heartbreaking pain to himself. Once Yeimy returns, he will be able to conquer her by facing his best friend, Charly. He seems to be ready for anything for the love of his life.
What is The Queen of Flow about?
The Queen of Flowcenters on Yeimy Montoya, a humble and talented 16-year-old girl who loves urban music. She dreams of becoming the greatest singer of this artistic medium that the world has ever known. Little does she know that her dream is short-lived. Her wishes are truncated when she is deceived by the person she trusted the most. She is madly in love with Charly, who turns out to be a big cheater. Not only does he steal her songs, but he also sends her to the United States with drugs. She is sentenced to New York prison and loses her family who is killed by order of the drug mafia.
After seventeen years, Yeimy returns, revenge deep in his mind. From now on, his only goal is to ruin all those who ruined his life, as well as that of his relatives. She acquired a new identity as Tamy Andrade, a wealthy reggaeton producer, and ended Charly Flow’s career. She destroys all her enemies one by one, becoming one of them.
What do we know about season 2 of The Queen of Flow?
Season 1 of The Queen of Flow premiered on June 12, 2018, on Caracol Television and on November 9, 2018, on Netflix. The first season has no less than 82 episodes in total. Netflix has yet to announce Season 2 of The Queen of Flow and therefore the release date for the next season is unknown. However, we do know that the series does have a season 2 on Caracol Television, so it’s more than likely that Netflix will do the same and pick it up as well.
It took five months for the series to arrive on Netflix after being broadcast on its mother channel, so it seems that season 2 of The Queen of Flow will not be released on Netflix until several months after its broadcast in Colombia which began its release. broadcast on April 26, 2021.
