EXPLANATION OF THE END OF WOMAN AT THE WINDOW!
At the end of The Woman in the Window, Ethan is revealed to be a surprisingly different character than we had assumed about him. Initially, Ethan is seen as a gentle, reserved, and sensitive teenager who seems threatened by his abusive father. The influence of the father’s voice on Ethan is pretty clear. And Alistair doesn’t even hesitate to hit his son in front of a stranger, which is Anna.
However, Ethan has a dark and sinister side that is only revealed later in the plot. After learning the Russell family secret from David, Anna is momentarily relieved. But she hears noises on the stairs. Anna walks down the stairs and finds a stabbed and injured Russell on the floor. A hooded man holding a knife appears from the shadows, and it’s none other than Ethan.
As Ethan reveals, he’s the person behind Katie’s death, as well as the person responsible for Pamela Nazin’s death. The son of a neglectful mother, Ethan feels the lack of a caring mother figure in his life. And hatred for his birth mother leads him to pick on other women, especially those older than him. As the story unfolds, Ethan is revealed to be an aspiring serial killer, with three murders already up to his sleeve.
After killing Pamela and Katie, Ethan finds his next target in the vulnerable and guilty Anna. Meanwhile, Anna goes to save David, but Ethan makes sure David is dead after stabbing him more than once. Once convinced of David’s death, Ethan lashes out at Anna. A spooky cat-and-mouse-hunting sequence ensues on the rain-soaked roof. But with a little help from her presence of mind, Anna managed to defeat the ugly villain.
WHO IS THE REAL JANE RUSSEL?
The first time we meet “Jane Russell” is the version of Julianne Moore, a cool artist who takes care of Anna after kids throw eggs at her townhouse on Halloween and she’s gone. is passed out. When Anna says “You are Jane Russell” the woman responds “What makes you say that?”She never discusses her identity and deftly ignores any questions about her personal life.
Anna later shows David a photo of the woman, after witnessing her murder in the Russels’ apartment. David reveals that it is not Jane but Katie, Ethan’s biological mother. The woman who later appears as Alistair’s wife and who introduces herself as Jane Russell is who she claims to be.
WHO IS THE INVISIBLE MAN ANNA TALKS TO?
As she tries to leave the house, Anna speaks to the invisible voice, which does not respond this time. The voice Anna is speaking to is probably Ed, Anna’s husband. Anna lives in denial of her past deeds, driven by her remorse. And the voice of the husband she hears is most likely her coping mechanism. However, when a confident Anna comes out of the house at the end of The Woman in the Window, the audience feels that Anna has been cured of her illnesses to some extent.
