The hit drama series This Is Us, which airs on NBC in the United States and on US + 24 in France on Canal +, will end after the sixth season, putting an end to this moving story.
This is Us stars an ensemble of actors led by Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, and Chrissy Metz. The series has won numerous awards, including several Emmys, and has been one of the most-watched series on television since its first season across the Atlantic.
The series tells the story of three adult siblings whose storylines intersect and diverge in different ways throughout the series. The characters face real-world issues related to the themes of family, parenthood, self-esteem, mental health, and the pursuit of purpose in middle-aged life. Critics praised This is Us for its compelling writing and emotional performances.
No Season 7 for This is Us
Unfortunately, the story is coming to an end. According to The Hollywood Reporter, This Is Us season 6 will be the last of the series. The series was renewed until the end of Season 6 in 2019, and it looks like that delay is exactly what creator Dan Fogelman needed to tell the full story. Hopefully, the planned ending will be a complete and satisfying conclusion for the fans that This Is Us meant so much to.
The delicate handling of the complex and emotional adult storylines has earned him fair praise across the board, and it has propelled several actors into the limelight. Sterling K. Brown received particular praise for his performance as Randall Pearson, which won him an Emmy in 2017.
If Season 6 was written with the ending in mind, which is likely given how Fogelman previously discussed the overall story, This Is Us has a real chance to end as strong as it started. The serious and vulnerable brand of relationship-centric drama isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it has been the perfect fit for a large following of dedicated fans.
