In the first season, a serial killer is on the loose and wreaks havoc in the town of Manyang. Recently transferred Detective Han Joo-won teams up with Lee Dong-sik, a demoted ex-sergeant. Quickly, the two men set to work to catch the culprit. Interestingly, the two detectives have secrets and end up in the spotlight for the case they are investigating.
At the end of the season, the truth comes to light. Joo-won is heartbroken when Dong-sik asks him to arrest him for obstructing justice. He is jailed for one year and sentenced to two years probation. Gi-hwan, Congresswoman Do, and Jeong-je are also on trial, but Joo-won is acquitted for helping end the killings. In Season 2 of Beyond Evil, we might see a new team of detectives comes together to solve a twisted crime that touches their lives personally.
