If you’re an action movie fan, or if you’ve seen “Taken” before, you’ll be delighted to hear that the full trilogy of the popular action-thriller starring Liam Neeson will be available this June 15 on Netflix. A trilogy that includes “Taken” which was released in 2008, “Taken 2” in 2012, and “Taken 3” in 2015. But before its release and begin the trilogy, let’s first talk about what we already know about the three. movies.
Taken (2008), what is it about?
As mentioned above, this is a film mixing action, thriller, and detective which was directed by Pierre Morel to whom we already owe titles like “Peppermint” and “Banlieue 13” and scripted by Luc Besson. It follows the story of Bryan Mills, a former US Secret Service agent, who is divorced and the father of young Kim. One day, her daughter decides to go on vacation to Paris with her girlfriend. But, unfortunately for the two young girls, their trip quickly turns into a nightmare when they are kidnapped from their hotel room by men who are part of a large network of trafficking in women. That’s when Bryan Mills jumps into action to find his daughter and save her from certain death. He then takes a flight to Paris and uses his many years of experience in the US secret service to track down those who kidnapped Kim and her friend.
A race against time is therefore launched in Paris to find her alive, and all in an atmosphere full of action. Bryan Mills, the former US secret service agent, will he save his daughter? To discover on Netflix.
Casting side, we will be treated to a real parade of actors and actresses and as we already know, the film will be carried by Liam Neeson who will play the role of Bryan Mills (The Veteran, The Good criminal). Beside her, Maggie Grace as her daughter Kim (Hurricane, Fear The Walking Dead), Famke Janssen as Lenore as Bryan’s ex-wife (Final Heist, Good Kisses from the Killer), Xander Berkeley in the role of Stuart (The Walking Dead, City Of Lies), Katie Cassidy as Amanda (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Olivier Rabourdin as Jean-Claude (Font, Black Box), Leland Orser in the role of Sam (The Art Of Self-Defense, The Gamber) and finally Jon Gries in the role of Casey (Memories of War, The White Lotus).
Taken 2 (2012)
Following the success of the first film, the production decided in 2012 to make a sequel. But this time around, director Pierre Morel has decided to make way for Olivier Megaton, to whom we owe titles like “Valérian et la Cité des mille planètes” and “Le Transporteur 3”.
As for the plot of this sequel, if in the first part of “Taken” it was Kim, Bryan’s daughter who was the target of a kidnapping, in “Taken 2“, it’s the parents’ turn.
It is during a family trip to Istanbul that Bryan and Lenore are kidnapped by Murad, the Albanian mafia boss who wants revenge at all costs for the death of his son who was killed by Bryan in the first film. Once again Bryan has to put his skills and strengths into practice to be able to come through this.
Otherwise, we will find the same actors and actresses in the main roles. We will find Liam Neeson in the role of Bryan Mills, Maggie Grace in that of Kim, Famke Janssen in that of Lenore, and Leland Orser in that of Sam.
Taken 3 (2015)
This is the last film in the trilogy, which was again directed by Olivier Megaton and this time around will not be based on a kidnapping, but a murder. In “Taken 3” we will find ex-agent Bryan, who finds himself accused of the death of his ex-wife Lenore, who was murdered at her home in Los Angeles. Our hero will once again have to use his skills and his connections within the American government to find the real killer and thus prove his innocence. He will also have to protect his daughter Kim, who is now the only family he has left, as he is convinced that Lenore’s killer plans to kill her as well.
And as in previous films, this third installment will feature the same actors and actresses as Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills, Maggie Grace as Kim, Famke Janssen as Lenore, and Leland Orser as Sam.
So here’s a little sneak peek at what to expect on Netflix with the arrival of the “Taken” trilogy on June 15th.
