FIND THE EXPLANATION OF THE END OF CODA, THE AMERICAN REMAKE OF THE ARIES FAMILY ON APPLE TV +!
CODA is available on Apple TV +! If you want to know the explanation for the ending, read on! They say silence is golden. It’s a silly phrase, but it takes on a poignant dimension for three astonishing minutes in CODA, Siân Heder’s refreshing, affectionate, and utterly compelling film about a deaf family whose daughter is hearing.
If there is something wrong with CODA the title comes from the phrase “deaf adult child”. Perhaps it is that he wears his overflowing heart on his sleeve so much that it sometimes borders on the word limit, especially when he invents conflicts that advance the plot and seem unnecessary.
But somehow he never crosses the line, and if you see a few predictable moments coming… so what? They work and they still work. If that’s a formula, I’m fine, and can you pass me the Kleenex? I have something in my eye. If you liked the film, you may still have questions about the ending of CODA, we tell you everything!
EXPLANATION OF THE END OF CODA
When she finally announces to her family that she plans to go to college to study music, they are dismayed. Leo, whose girlfriend Gertie told him how beautiful Ruby’s voice is, supports his sister’s decision. However, after an altercation with the Coast Guard that results in the suspension of her father’s fishing license, Ruby decides to stay with her family, which infuriates her older brother.
The end of CODA shows a heartbreaking but happy farewell as Ruby begins a new chapter in her life and leaves for college. So Ruby ends up going to Berklee, much to the delight of her music teacher, Mr. V. The most touching part of it all, of course, is that she finally leaves her family to follow her passion for music.
In a brief scene after his audition, we also see his father teaching a new seaman how to work on the fishing boat, which means they were able to find a new audience member to help them on their expeditions to fishing, which the court order against Frank required.
It also means that Ruby is leaving knowing the family business is not in jeopardy. The co-op’s fish display, headed by Ruby’s mother and other women from the fishing community, also appears to be doing well.
RUBY AND MILES END TOGETHER?
The only downside to Ruby leaving for college is that her boyfriend Miles turned into a flame, cannot join her. He “choked” during his audition at Berklee and was not selected. By the end of CODA, the two are decidedly together and are seen kissing, then jumping into a flooded quarry together. However, Miles also mentions that while in college, Ruby will fall in love with a musician wearing a beret.
Although he says it jokingly, it just might be. Ruby, who has never been far from her family, is entering a whole new phase, far removed from her protected life so far. Therefore, her tastes when it comes to potential romantic partners could change drastically shortly. So, despite her penchant for beret-wearing musicians, it is quite possible that the long-distance relationship she and Miles have entered into will not last.
