WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE FOLLOWING?
“Internal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort” is the title of Rick and Morty Season 5, Episode 8. This title is a reference to the romantic science fiction film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, released in 2004. In this episode, the Smiths will go to a fun family activity, far from the usual shenanigans in which Rick’s adventures in space carry them along.
So it will be a nice change of pace to see the family doing normal things. Meanwhile, Rick will stay behind to work on one of his super-secret projects. Given the title of the episode, it’s likely that Rick will try to help a friend. This friend could be Birdperson.
As fans may recall, Rick tried to restore Birdperson / Phoenixperson in the Season 4 finale, but his attempts were rejected. Birdperson has been Rick’s closest friend, and his reappearance could set an emotionally heavy tone for the new episode.
We might see a more vulnerable side of Rick, and his past might be revealed as well. Episode 8 could also set up a three-way conflict between Rick, Birdperson and Mr. Nimbus, Rick’s former friend turned adversary.
