EXPLANATION OF THE END OF SWEET GIRL
The person who killed Keeley and her bodyguard are Rachel. Her father introduced Rachel to mixed martial arts when she was younger, and she rapidly proved to be a quick learner. She was on the debate team and the gymnastics team and even has a 3.5 GPA in school.
She inadvertently transforms into a powerful weapon after Ray’s death. She begins to believe that her father is still alive and that he’s the one killing all these people. Perhaps her mind resolves to create Ray as an alter ego so as not to lose the last bit of control she has over her sanity.
The people pursuing her, the authorities and Amos, know about it. Meeker makes contact with the part of her that is still Rachel. Atop PNC Park, Meeker uses Rachel’s childhood memories to access the young girl’s psyche and help her recognize the truth. However, even if Meeker succeeds and Rachel becomes Rachel again, Rachel realizes that she has gone too far and sacrificed too much to back down now. She has no choice but to go through with it and find out why her parents must have died.
As mentioned above, Amos kills Ray. However, he is only a professional assassin, hired to eliminate anyone who can potentially pose a threat to his client. The real perpetrator is MP Morgan. She fooled the world into believing that she was a progressive and people-friendly politician with a real passion to make a difference for the better.
After discovering that Bennett had found evidence linking her to BioPrime, she sent Amos to pursue her, thus acting as a catalyst for Ray’s death. When Morgan discovered Rachel had murdered Keeley, she dispatched Amos to assassinate the little girl and remove anybody who was aware of her role in BioPrime. Shah is part of this group.
In the climaxing scenes, Rachel kills Amos and records Morgan confessing to his crimes. She then hands the recording to the press and Meeker, which leads to Morgan’s arrest. At the end of Sweet Girl, Rachel takes the plane and goes into the unknown. She probably has no idea where her path will take her. But, at least, she can find some comfort in the fact that she was successful in securing justice for her parents.
