When they hear a series of gunshots, they think it is a hunting excursion. However, they quickly discover that they are in fact the prey. As they try to hide from their attackers, they try to figure out who might be trying to harm them. Prey ends with a shocking ending, details of which are explained below.
EXPLANATION OF THE END OF PREY
We saw flashbacks of Roman and Lisa on vacation somewhere before the bachelorette party, so could it be that Lisa’s because they were being sued?
The answer comes soon after when Roman finds a house with a grave outside for a person named Anne. Inside, he watches a film of a drunk man approaching Eva and her daughter Anne at the lake, which ends tragically when the man inadvertently shoots Anne and kills her.
It’s unclear if the man was on a bachelorette party weekend similar to Roman’s, but it’s clear that Eva has taken revenge on any group of men who decide to wander through. the forest. Newspaper clippings in her home reveal that she is a falconry expert who has just opted to pursue a larger prey.
Roman and his friends didn’t do anything to Eva, they just picked the wrong place for a weekend deer hunting. She kills Peter soon after and the flashbacks are resolved when Roman finds a picture of Lisa naked on Albert’s phone with the message, “Can’t wait to see you, Albert! Say hello to your brother… ”
It looks like the two slept together during Roman and Lisa’s vacation when Albert passed by, and they’ve continued their affair ever since. Instead of letting Albert die in the forest, Roman drags him to safety and goes to confront Eva. He distracts her with a unicorn toy they found in the forest and fights with Eva. Roman manages to snatch Eva’s weapon, but instead of shooting her, he throws it down. Eva then decides, for some reason, to throw herself off the cliff and kill herself.
Roman, understandably, heaves a sigh of relief at the end of Prey, but it’s unclear if his brother survived. Roman will probably have to wait until morning before he can return to his brother Albert. Albert’s fate is not so clear as he was shot in the shoulder and is bleeding profusely. He too will have to spend the night in the forest and wait until morning to try to escape. However, since his foot is also badly injured, Albert’s fate largely rests in the hands of his brother Roman.
This adds another complicated dynamic to the ending, as Roman recently discovered Albert’s affair with his fiancée Lisa and distanced himself from his brother in disgust. However, the fact that Roman makes a makeshift bandage for Albert before leaving him tells us that he still cares about his brother and that he will likely come to save him at sunrise. Although the two brothers probably survived, their mutual relationship seems irreparably damaged.
