EXPLANATION OF THE END OF SEE SEASON 2!
The Payans and their Hidden Tribe allies defeat the Trivantians in the Battle of Greenhill Gap. The Trivantians had a distinct edge before the tribes arrived, but the tribes add some balance to the equation between the warring sides.
Tamacti Jun’s decision to choose Greenhill Gap as the battleground turns out to be an excellent one. The Pagans and their allies use narrow passages to lure their enemies into positions where others await them with spears, swords, and other weapons.
Slowly but surely, the Payans and their allies are gaining the advantage. The decisive moment of the battle comes when Wren and several Trivantian soldiers are drawn to a frozen lake covered in snow. The Peasants break the ice, and all the Trivantians trapped there drown in the lake below, except for Wren.
Edo calls out to his brother by blowing the same whistle Baba handed him when they were small, realizing the war is lost. Baba doesn’t intend to fight his brother, but Edo knows his life is over anyway. Following this defeat, the Council of Trivantia will have him executed as soon as he enters the city. Edo dies in Baba’s arms after the brothers fight.
We also reunite with Jerlamarel’s son, who spent the entire season 2 of See relaxing with Edo’s mentor, and who developed some sort of explosive. In the last demonstration, the bombs are a success. It looks like we have another one of the villains here for next season.
In an epilogue, Sibeth cries out her pain in the night. Paris visits him, given all his experience as a midwife. Sibeth plays the sympathy card by telling herself that she is estranged from her child, which is an understandable worry, but when she leans over Paris, she slits his throat with a hidden blade.
As she bleeds herself, Sibeth explains that she will kill the child before she sees it taken and that she will kill anyone who tries to take it. Quietly, she sings “Rock-A-Bye” to close Season 2 of See!
THE DEPARTURE OF BABA?
Baba was physically and mentally destroyed by the Trivantians’ conflict. But he put up with it all for the sake of his children. He even killed Edo, despite swearing not to. And now he’s through fighting and fighting the war. Unfortunately, the struggle against those who are adept at killing others will never end.
Since Edo killed his father, Oloman, Jerlamarel’s oldest son, has worked with the Trivantians. It is revealed at the end of Season 2 of See that he has produced a chemical explosive that is most likely a version of gunpowder. The Trivantians can do a lot of damage with this explosion, including Payan. And when that happens, Baba will almost certainly have to return to save his family.
