EXPLANATION OF THE END OF SEASON 2 OF TED LASSO
AFC Richmond’s final game of the season is close but ends on a high note. To celebrate his victory, Roy plans a six-week vacation for himself and Keeley. However, he is heartbroken when she claims to be too busy and tells him to go alone. Season 2 ends with a brief scene where Nate is seen overseeing soccer practice with Rupert, Rebecca’s ex-husband.
So, first of all, what’s the fate of AFC Richmond? Despite not winning their last game of the season against Brentford, the team managed to tie the score after a Dani Rojas penalty. A draw is all it takes for AFC Richmond to get enough points to be promoted to the Premier League. So, after spending a season relegated to the Championship League, our favorite team is back in the highest league in English football.
Roy and Keeley appeared to be the ideal pair, but their relationship began to show cracks. While the couple hasn’t officially broken up, Keeley’s announcement that she’ll be too busy to join Roy on a romantic getaway appears ominous.
Even while she swears that everything is OK, Roy can’t help but wonder if they are splitting up. After Keeley walks away from the conversation, we last see him deep in thought, indicating that things aren’t going well in their relationship.
If not right away, it is increasingly likely that the pair will part ways shortly. That’s not to say we shouldn’t want Keeley and Jamie to reconcile. Given her love for Rebecca, Keeley may adopt a similar demeanor and focus on her personal and professional goals without being bound to a relationship.
