EXPLANATION OF THE END OF EMILY IN PARIS SEASON 2
Emily meets Alfie at the end of Season 2 of Emily in Paris and tells him about her chaotic work situation. He then tells her that he was supposed to leave Paris a week ago, but stayed because of her. He informs her that he is prepared for a long-distance relationship and requests that she plan their schedules. Emily, overjoyed, agrees to her plan and kisses her.
Emily admits to Mindy at the park, while discussing her problems, that she is unsure about her job and her love life. She then inadvertently declares that she is “in love with her friend’s boyfriend.” Mindy begs her to acknowledge her emotions and not be held back by Camille’s childish pact.
Realizing her feelings for Gabriel, she rushes to his apartment to confess her feelings, only to discover Camille is busy with her affairs. The on-again, off-again couple is back together. Emily fakes the congratulations before fleeing and crying on a bridge because that’s what you do in France when your heart is broken.
Emily then calls Sylvie to inform her that she has made her decision. Emily wants to choose Gabriel because she loves him at this point, but she can’t. Furthermore, Gabriel adores him but is hurt by his decision to date Alfie. In addition, Emily has already agreed to try a great friendship with Alfie, who is completely unaware of her emotions for Gabriel. Finally, Alfie appears to be falling in love with her and is likely to commit fully.
So Emily appears to have three options: break up with Alfie and accept her single life, continue dating Alfie to forget about Gabriel, or leave Alfie, confess her feelings to Gabriel, wait until Camille and his separate, and then go out with him.
We believe Emily will continue to date Alfie, at least for the time being, because she enjoys his company. But her messed-up love triangle isn’t going away anytime soon, and she’ll always pine for Gabriel.
WILL YOU LEAVE PARIS, EMILY? SYLVIE OR MADELINE?
In short, whichever side Emily chooses, she will have to stay in Paris. However, at the end of Season 2 of Emily in Paris, a distraught Emily calls Sylvie and informs her that she has made her decision. We believe Emily will not be leaving Savoir right away to join Sylvie’s new venture.
Her devotion to Madeline will compel her to stay informed until things deteriorate. Although she has previously expressed a desire to adapt to the chaos that surrounds her, the meeting with Gabriel and Camille appears to have shaken her, and she may seek the cold embrace of Madeline’s structured American work style.
Emily will most likely join Sylvie’s company and cut ties with Savoir. So it’s almost certain Emily will abandon Madeline in favor of Sylvie, but when she’ll make this life-changing decision is unknown. We might even see Madeline, in a shocking turn of events, accept her mistake and embrace the French perspective!
