SNK SEASON 4 EPISODE 18 END EXPLANATION
The brash protagonist of the series became the wielder of the Founding Titan when his father injected him with the Titan serum. Thousands of years ago, Ymir Fritz held the powers of nine shapeshifting Titans, and the Founding Titan was one of them. He is different from the others because he has the mysterious power to manipulate the memories of Ymir’s subjects and control the Titans with his scream. However, despite holding the Founding Titan for a long time, Eren is unable to use its powers.
This strange anomaly is because Eren is not of royal blood, and can only use the full extent of his Titan abilities when in contact with someone of the royal bloodline. At the end of Episode 18 of Season 4 of Attack on Titan, the injured Founding Titan advances towards the Bestial Titan, and General Magath takes the opportunity to attack the latter.
He lands a heavy blow, after which Zeke’s Beast Titan falls off the wall. The Founding Titan continues to march towards him as Reiner gathers all his strength to prevent the two from making contact. Although titan shapeshifters can be killed with a killing blow to the neck of the titans they control, they must be hit in the right place. Zeke is therefore not dead.
If Zeke dies, Eren won’t be able to use all of the powers of the Founding Titan and Bestial Titan until it is inherited by a baby belonging to Ymir’s subjects. Without the threat of the Great Earthquake, the Marleyans will have time to regroup, after which the defeat of Paradise Island will only be a matter of time.
