EXPLAINING THE END OF THE HOME TEAM
Even though the Warriors lead 18-17 at the half, the players are beginning to grumble. When Payton asks the boys to prepare for the opponent’s adjustments, they say they are tired.
Payton insists on making sacrifices for the sake of the team, but Connor is enraged by his father’s desire to win the game for his reputation. He accuses his father of pushing them past their limits. The coach’s eyes are opened by Connor’s confrontation with Payton.
Rather than prioritizing victory, he begins to consider the players’ desire to play in the league game following their efforts to carry the team to the finish line.

The Warriors lead the Porcupines by three points at the end of Home Team. Instead of going for the touchdown and winning, he asks Harlan to go for a field goal and tie the game. Instead of alienating Harlan, Payton gives him a chance.
Harlan, who is moping, gains confidence and scores the goal. The confrontation with Connor makes him realize that the players, not his feelings, should take precedence. Although Payton makes sacrifices in terms of winning, he involves all players and makes them feel important.
Harlan attempts the game-winning kick but fails to score, and the Porcupines win the tournament. Still, the Warriors are proud of how far they’ve come as a team to finish second.
