The series follows the titular soccer team in two time-based settings. In 1996, the Yellowjackets were on their way to the national championships when their plane crashed in the Canadian wilderness, where the team was stranded for 19 months. In 2021, the surviving Yellowjackets continue to deal with the trauma of what happened in the wild during those 19 months, increasingly frantically.
After Yellowjackets premiered in November 2021, the series saw week-over-week growth, becoming the second most-watched series by streamer Showtime behind Dexter: New Blood. WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE FOR SEASON 2 OF YELLOWJACKETS?
The first season ended on January 17, 2022. We have good news, season 2 of Yellowjackets was quickly picked up by the channel. As audiences continue to experience all the deliciously horrifying pleasures of Yellowjackets, the series has become one of the most talked-about shows of the year and audiences dreaded the wait between seasons as many mysteries remain unsolved. Now, it looks like the wait won’t be too long.
Gary Levine has revealed that Yellowjackets Season 2 will likely premiere in 2022. The Yellowjackets Season 2 release date is expected to be set for late 2022!
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE NEXT?
It’s safe to say that Yellowjackets Season 2 will continue to follow both timelines, in 1996, with the Yellowjackets stuck in the woods, and in the present, with our survivors. The Season 1 finale didn’t resolve who that person in the nightgown was.
But we certainly saw the start of the cult taking place in the woods: Lottie, who last week put on her wooden crown for the first time, with Van and Misty right behind her. It is clear that this will be continued in season 2.
Our current story will certainly continue as well; we know that each of our four main women has her own story. Who the hell is Lottie Matthews? It’s Suzie’s question that Nat won’t hear for a little while, but which tells us that our queen of the woods is alive and causing all sorts of problems in the present. This will be a huge storyline of Season 2 of Yellowjackets.
