SNOWPIERCER SEASON 3 EPISODE 5 FINALE
Dr. Pelton and Mrs. Headwood use electric blankets to try to keep Zarah’s temperature stable. The explosion on the train worsens the situation because Layton is forced to move away from his child’s mother. Despite the temperature drop, Dr. Pelton instructs Zarah to push to deliver the baby. Zarah gives birth to Liana after much effort.
The baby’s genetic modification could change Liana’s fate for the better or the worse. As the Snowpiercer approaches New Eden, Liana’s father and mother should be concerned about her survival off the train.
Pike, on the other hand, appears dissatisfied with Layton’s leadership and decision-making process since his friend’s reappearance as Snowpiercer leader. Pike is hiding in the exploding train car at the end of Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 5 when Layton arrives, indicating his involvement in the explosion and fire.
Pike also destroys a remote control, which could be from the bomb he planted for the explosion. The fire and explosion could be Pike’s way of alarming Layton, if not his attempt to assassinate him. Pike’s actions could be motivated by Layton’s attempts to become the Snowpiercer’s next tyrant, as misunderstood by Pike.
Pike can pursue an authoritarian role for himself by forcing his interest in Ruth to become the next train commander, which could lead to him killing or injuring Layton. As Layton and Bess flee the explosion, they may discover that Pike is the true perpetrator in both incidents.
