As you watch This Is Us season 6 episode 10 on NBC later tonight, keep in mind that Randall and Deja’s tensions will be at an all-time high.
So, what exactly is going on here? This is a story about Deja finally learning the truth about what she said to Malik, as well as some of the consequences that will follow. Let’s just say there’s a lot of heartbreak going on here on a number of fronts.
The true source of the conflict between the two characters can be seen in a sneak peek over at Essence. Deja expresses to Sterling K. Brown’s character that she is aware that Malik was told to end things. What was Randall’s motivation for doing this? It was the “right thing to do” in his mind; he didn’t want his daughter to be away from home at such a young age. He didn’t think it was the best decision for her future.
Randall, on the other hand, is not the type of person who is comfortable with others making major life decisions without his input. Deja resists his attempts to compel her to do what he wants. She gives him the standard adolescent “I despise you” line, to which he responds by claiming to be her father. Deja responds by stating that he isn’t and that he is simply the man who “took her away from her mother.” As we previously stated, this is heartbreaking material.
Is there any possibility of reconciliation tonight? Yes, but both parties may need to grow in order for that to happen. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the future.
