Get Everything you need to know about Big Sky season 3!
We’re getting close to the point where networks make big decisions about a number of their hit shows. With that in mind, is now the time to start talking about Big Sky season 3? It certainly appears to be the case.
First and foremost, let’s take a look at where we are right now and how optimistic/pessimistic we should be about the future. ABC has not confirmed whether or not the Montana-set drama will return, and this could be a last-minute decision.
Wouldn’t it be great if live ratings were no longer the primary determinant of whether or not a show returns for more? Absolutely, but unfortunately, we’re not there yet. DVR numbers and streaming are important, but the most concerning aspect of Big Sky right now is that it is down more than 40% in the demo compared to season 1. In theory, you’d think it’d have more stability this year because it airs after Grey’s Anatomy, but that hasn’t happened. We believe that one of the major issues here is that there was such a compelling story for the first half of season 1, that it became difficult for the writers to pivot to other things after the fact. The Ronald arc probably went on a little too long, and now we’re in this weird spot where a lot of things are still being juggled.
Another source of concern is that ABC has already renewed two other 10:00 p.m. dramas, The Good Doctor and The Rookie, leaving fewer shows on the bubble in general. We expect either Big Sky or A Million Little Things to be axed at the end of the season to make way for something new, and both are in jeopardy.
If you enjoy Big Sky, this is where we state unequivocally that you must watch it live! That is the only way to ensure that there will be more stories in the future.
