Steven finally comes face to face with the reality Marc shielded him from when he stumbles across the memory of the day Steven’s character was born.
Marc’s mind dissociates from reality for the first time in a horrific scene of violence at the hands of his mother; he uses the adventurous hero he and his brother idolized (Dr. Steven Grant) as a psychological mask to conceal “Marc” during times of extreme emotional trauma. To complete the circle, Steven recalls the day of Wendy Spector’s funeral. Marc, who is inebriated and traumatized, is too broken and traumatized to accept his father’s invitation to finally return home and be whole. Rather than that, Marc disassociates completely and Steven assumes full control, returning us to the beginning of this Moon Knight series, with Steven walking indifferently.
STEVEN DIED AT THE END OF MOON KNIGHT EPISODE 5?
The restart also serves as the conclusion to episode 5: as soon as Steven discovers the truth about his origins, he sacrifices himself to save Marc from the dead souls who have come to claim him. Steven is transformed after falling from the boat into the sands.
Steven Grant’s demise is not definitively established, although the ending of Moon Knight Episode 5 strongly implies it.
Marc Spector’s dissociative identity disorder plays a significant role in the character, and Steven Grant has established himself as one of the show’s most compelling protagonists thus far.
Given that Moon Knight Episode 5 reveals Marc to be the Host’s identity and Steven to be a Quirk, it is unclear how Marc will deal with Steven’s death. This article contains all of the explanations for episode 5.
This notion is complicated by the circumstances surrounding Steven’s apparent death. He was not physically killed, as Marc’s body is technically already dead, and both identities were on their way to the afterlife. Steven’s soul, on the other hand, is imprisoned in Duat, separated from Marc’s, who is in the Field of Reeds.
If Steven is indeed dead, Moon Knight may introduce a third Quirk or devise a way to resurrect Steven. Spector’s DID is an integral part of the character, and the loss of a Quirk is not to be taken lightly, even if the circumstances surrounding his apparent demise allow for his return.
HOW COME THE SCALES ARE EVEN AFTER STEVEN’S DEATH?
Marc and Steven were separated in the final moments of Moon Knight episode 5 due to the scales suddenly rebalancing.
While it appeared as though Marc and Steven were doomed to Duat purgatory, the scales shifted immediately after Steven fell from Taweret’s ship and became stone. To learn everything there is to know about Marc’s brother, read this.
Taweret had specifically instructed Marc and Steven to stop concealing their identities from one another, and this may be the best explanation for the scales’ balance.
Steven accepts that he was created by Marc shortly before he was turned to stone, which seems to be the most logical explanation for the scales balancing immediately following his sacrifice.
