Is there a new episode of Saturday Night Live on NBC tonight? Is there going to be a new episode of the late-night show in the next few hours?
Given that we just had a Jerrod Carmichael-hosted episode on the show last week, we’d obviously like to keep the momentum going for a little while longer, and this is where we 100% come bearing some fantastic news. A new episode will air tonight, and it will be hosted by none other than actor Jake Gyllenhaal!
We’ll admit that we’re thrilled to see Jake return to the show, especially since his eyes reveal just how much of a comedy nerd he is at heart. He’s done a great job in sketches before, and we think he’ll jump at the chance to do some strange things tonight. In addition to musical guest Camila Cabello, he’s joined in his promo by cast member Bowen Yang, who remains one of our favorite people to watch. He’s so high-energy himself that if Jake and he get a chance to do some scenes together in the episode, he’ll be a great scene partner.
So, what are our expectations for this episode? We know it’ll never happen, but we’d love to see Jake do a parody of Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well,” which a lot of people believe is about him (even if he doesn’t think so). Taylor, ironically, recently performed the extended version of this song on Saturday Night Live. Is he able to reprise his role as Mysterio if not this? He’s done some good musical stuff on the show before, so he’s one of the few hosts we’d like to see break out into a song and dance routine.
