It was an odd but fascinating episode of the show. Perhaps the mangaka or showrunners thought of doing an episode like this after seeing how many people despise Izumi’s guts.
Except for a few seconds, he was completely absent from this outing, and there is a lot to be gained from that. On the one hand, the show maintained its usual standards and it was as good or bad as you’d expect it to be thus far. Izumi’s absence didn’t make much of a difference, but the show wasn’t the same without him.
Instead, this episode focused not only on Shikimori but also on supporting characters who have been present but underutilized thus far.

The odd but lovable Hachimitsu, whose unflappable demeanor as well as deadpan expression manage to bring a smile even when the show isn’t at its best, is the highlight of the cast.

So, not only did Kamiya make friends with Shikimori, but it appears that she also bonded with Nekozaki as she got to know her.
