“Necessity Compels Me to Plague You,” Episode 5 of the Becoming Elizabeth series, depicts Thomas Seymour’s shocking fall from grace.
Just when Elizabeth thought she had figured out that Thomas Seymour was pursuing her to gain power, she succumbed to his seductions once more.
However, Elizabeth is adamant that she will not, like Catherine, flee with him in secret. This forces Thomas to seek permission from the Lord Protector to marry Elizabeth, which he promptly declines.
Frustrated that his brother has all the power, Thomas devises a scheme to seize it by kidnapping the king.
Thomas sneaks into the king’s chambers with guns, shoots his dog, and then runs into Robert Dudley.
He is finally apprehended. Worse, the episode ends with Elizabeth in trouble as well. The implication is that this was all part of his plan.

Um yes. Thomas Seymour crept into the king’s chamber with guns and slaughtered one of the king’s dogs. It was a disaster. While there is some disagreement about Thomas’ intentions, his actions occurred after the Privy Council became suspicious that he was attempting to seize more and more power for himself.
