We first meet them when they are young, carefree, and in love. Read on to find out where Diorama was shot.
We then find them as a married couple a few years later. Spontaneous love has given way to a highly structured and regulated existence in which both parties appear to simply go with the flow. Their lives are summed up by Frida at one point as “work, children, children, work.”
Frida, aware of their marriage’s monotony, wants to shake things up and proposes a variety of solutions, including a marriage counselor, a break, and even a threesome.
He dismisses them all, preferring to remain in denial. Their marriage will inevitably fail, and the rest of the film is about how they deal with their divorce. If you have any questions about the end of Diorama, we answer them all!
EXPLAINED DIORAMA ENDING!
Frida began therapy after her divorce at the end of Diorama, something she had wanted to do for a long time.
She admits that she feels responsible for her marriage’s demise because she initiated it all. Her therapist advises her to stop taking Bjorn’s actions personally, to accept the past, and move on.
Surprisingly, despite his opposition to therapy at the start of “Diorama,” Bjorn begins to experiment with it.
It could be the best thing he did in the entire film. Therapy is many things, but its underlying concept is still to provide emotional education to the person seeking it.
Bjorn gradually improves and can let go of his resentment towards Frida.
At a school event where his kids are performing, he bumps into Linda and her ex-husband.
Seeing them on good terms while peacefully sharing parenting, he realizes he can do the same with Frida and that she may not always be armed with guns and swords.
Frida notices Bjorn and Christine, their neighbor, and realizes they are dating.
She extends an olive branch by inviting them to dinner with her and her boyfriend, Ben. And at the end of the Diorama, we see the group having a wonderful Christmas Eve together.
