The cast of New Amsterdam was aware of Agyeman’s departure as Dr. Helen Sharpe before the conclusion of season 5, even though they might have harbored some hope that she would reconsider.
So why leave before the last season? We are aware that the actress has already signed on for a new role in the six-episode television series Dreamland, allowing her to stay in her native United Kingdom.
Her decision to leave might have something to do with wanting to spend more time nearby her home.
Keep in mind that the entire New Amsterdam cast and crew had to deal with filming amid the world health crisis, particularly over the past few years.
That must have been challenging for all of them, especially about the travel aspect. As a result, many cast members have left their respective shows.
