IS SMILE INSPIRATION FROM A TRUE STORY?
Smile, on the other hand, is not based on a true story. Instead, the movie is based on Parker Finn’s 2020 short movie ‘Laura Hasn’t Slept.’

When asked about the inspiration for the Smile movie, Finn explained that nothing specific influenced how the film came to be.
The director explained that scaring viewers with a simple jumpscare has become more difficult over the years.
He wanted to explore the mindset of an ordinary person and the thoughts that go through their mind daily for the movie. Furthermore, Finn was eager to delve into the concept of how a person tries to conceal their feelings and past from the rest of the world.
As the movie progresses, Finn wants viewers to expect the unexpected on a journey with a far from straightforward conclusion.
