BRETT PETER COWAN IS WHO?
When Daniel Morcombe did not return home on December 7, 2003, the case became one of the most thoroughly investigated in Queensland.
As police began to look for suspects based on witness testimony, they came across Brett Peter Cowan, a man with a history of sex crimes who lived in the nearby town of Beerwah at the time the teenager went missing.
Several criminals came forward, claiming to know the perpetrator, and the name Brett Peter Cowan came up in the investigation.
When he appeared for the corona inquest in 2011, police discovered that his alibi was false, as he was not at home at the time specified.

They were unable to arrest Brett Peter Cowan due to a lack of evidence linking him to the case.
The covert operation, dubbed “Mr. Big,” involved a few undercover cops posing as members of a criminal gang and befriending Brett Peter Cowan.
Brett Peter Cowan initially denied any involvement in Daniel’s disappearance, but in August 2011, he confessed in a video to an undercover agent known as “Arnold.”
Brett Peter Cowan then approached the boy and offered to drive him to the mall, after which he would drive him to an isolated house in Beerwah.
Brett Peter Cowan allegedly tried to strip and molest Daniel and strangled him to death when the teenager resisted.
Furthermore, Brett Peter Cowan revealed to plainclothes police the location of the victim’s skeletal remains. Based on these confessions, he was arrested and taken into custody on August 13, 2011, at the site of Daniel’s remains.
